Aïko Necklace

More than just a piece of jewelry, the Aïko necklace in 18-carat gold plating combines delicacy, poetry, and a message of love: that of holding the key to one's heart.

The jewelry

• Materials: Gold-plated. 3-micron thickness of 18-carat gold, nickel and cadmium-free on a brass base.
• Appearance: Pendant in the shape of a padlock and key.
• Colors: Gold.
• Necklace Dimensions: 44 cm (40 cm + 2 cm + 2 cm extension).
• Padlock width: 0.80 cm.
• Padlock height: 1.10 cm.
• Key width: 0.50 cm.

Presentation of the jewelry

The jewelry is presented and sent in a MOONSTRA-stamped case placed in a jute bag.

A card is slipped inside, presenting:

• A first QR code to scan, linking to a product sheet detailing the characteristics of the jewelry, its meaning, how to choose a size, as well as usage and care tips.
• A second QR code to scan, linking to the MOONSTRA online store and its associated Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube pages.

The symbolism of the jewelry

The name of the jewelry is inspired by the Japanese first name "Aïko" which means "child of love."
The symbol of the padlock and key represents the desire to offer the key to one's heart and to be bound by love for life.

Gold plating is a process rich in history. This gilding technique has been used worldwide since antiquity. Once a sign of wealth and power, it now conveys elegance.

Choosing your size

Before ordering your necklace, check the size that suits you.

The choice of necklace size depends on your neck size, your body shape, your silhouette, and how you wish to wear it over clothing.
The chain should not be too tight to avoid injury, discomfort, and lack of elegance.

Measure your neck circumference with a flexible tape measure, or if you don't have one, use a thread or a strip of paper and then measure its length with a ruler.

The chain sizes in the MOONSTRA store range from 37 to 60 cm. These sizes do not include the length of the pendants that make up the necklaces. So remember to add the length of the pendant to get an idea of the full length of the jewelry on you.

Generally, but this depends on silhouettes and body types, chain sizes (without pendant) fall as follows:

• 40cm: the chain falls at the base of the neck.
• 45cm: the chain falls at the collarbone.
• 50cm: the chain falls below the collarbone.
• 55cm: the chain falls at the upper part of the chest.
• 60cm: the chain falls lower on the chest.

It is advisable to measure a well-fitting necklace you wear regularly, consisting of its chain and a pendant similar to the one you are interested in from the MOONSTRA store, to help you choose the size of the new one you wish to order.

Usage and care tips

To preserve the jewelry from premature aging and maintain its shine, MOONSTRA advises you to avoid:

• exposing it to fresh, salt, or chlorinated water. Remove the jewelry before showering or swimming.
• exposing it to sand and salt. Remove the jewelry before going to the beach.
• exposing it directly to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other cosmetic products. Wait for the products to be absorbed by the skin before putting on the jewelry.
• exposing it to oxidizing products. Remove the jewelry before doing household chores or DIY.
• exposing it to heavy perspiration. Remove the jewelry before any intense physical activity.
• keeping it on while sleeping and for manual activities.

To clean and polish the jewelry, MOONSTRA advises you to gently rub it with a soft-bristled brush moistened with water and a mild shampoo or Marseille soap, then rinse it with clear water and finally dry it with a soft cloth.
