The symbolism of the jewelry and the virtues of the stone in lithotherapy

The name of the jewelry is inspired by the Indonesian island of "Bali". It symbolizes well-being, escape, exoticism, between volcanic mountains, beaches and coral reefs.

Used since prehistoric times and on all continents, mother-of-pearl is rich in meanings. For example, it symbolizes love in Greek antiquity, purity and gentleness for Catholics, and immortality in China.
It can come from all seas and rivers in the world. The mother-of-pearl used for MOONSTRA jewelry is mainly produced in Eastern China and Indonesia.

The mother-of-pearl disc encircled by gold plating here symbolizes femininity, gentleness, and love.

Gold plating is a process steeped in history. This gilding technique has been used worldwide since antiquity. Once a sign of wealth and power, it now conveys elegance.

Today, in lithotherapy, mother-of-pearl brings appeasement by warding off fears and negative thoughts. It helps develop concentration, inspiration, self-confidence, and self-control. It is associated with the solar plexus and frontal chakras.

Lithotherapy is a pseudoscientific practice of unconventional medicine based on the belief in a power that certain stones and mother-of-pearl would have, which, through their vibrations and energies, would help improve psychological and physical well-being or even cure diseases. However, there is no scientific proof of these benefits. The practice of lithotherapy and the use of stones and mother-of-pearl should therefore not replace medical advice.

In lithotherapy, mother-of-pearl purifies itself and recharges its energies alone in its natural state when in contact with earth, water, or the light of the moon or sun.
Once removed from their environment, they lose their positive energies and must be purified and recharged.

Thus, you can purify them by rinsing them or immersing them for a few minutes in clear or demineralized water, by placing them in a Tibetan bowl that you will make sing and vibrate, or by burning a sage stick or incense and exposing them to the fumes.

To recharge them, expose them all night to moonlight, preferably full moon. You can also expose them to the sun, but avoid prolonged exposure (less than an hour) as the sun's rays can, in the long run, tarnish some stones and mother-of-pearl. Therefore, prefer sunrise or sunset when the radiation is gentle.
You can also bury them at the full moon, leaving them underground for an entire lunar cycle or for several months, or arrange them for several hours or days on a cluster of Quartz.

Choosing your size

Before ordering your earrings (studs, posts, hoops, dangles...), check the size that suits you.
The size depends on the morphology of your ears, the position of your piercings, and the outfit you wish to wear.
An earring should not be too tight to avoid injury, discomfort, and lack of elegance. It should be able to move slightly.
It is therefore advisable to measure well-fitting earrings that you wear regularly to help you choose the size of the new ones you wish to order.

Usage and care tips

To preserve the jewelry from premature aging and maintain its shine, MOONSTRA advises you to avoid:

  • exposing it to fresh, salt, or chlorinated water. Remove the jewelry before showering or swimming.
  • exposing it to sand and salt. Remove the jewelry before going to the beach.
  • exposing it directly to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other cosmetic products. Wait for the products to be absorbed by the skin before putting on the jewelry.
  • exposing it to oxidizing products. Remove the jewelry before doing housework or DIY.
  • exposing it to heavy perspiration. Remove the jewelry before any intense physical activity.
  • keeping it on for sleeping and for manual activities.

To clean and polish the jewelry, MOONSTRA advises you to gently rub it with a soft-bristled brush moistened with water mixed with a mild shampoo or Marseille soap, then rinse it with clear water, and finally dry it with a soft cloth.
