The symbolism of the jewel and the virtues of the stone in lithotherapy

The name of the jewel is inspired by the island of Majorca (Mallorca in Spanish), where the pearls that compose it originate.

There are three types of pearls: natural and cultured pearls produced by oysters, and artificial pearls. Majorca pearls are artificial.

Their manufacturing is the island's specialty and is renowned worldwide. It involves creating a pearl with a glass base artificially coated with natural mother-of-pearl.

Pearls have been used for millennia in jewelry making. They are associated with numerous traditions, cultures, and symbolisms. For example, they symbolize love among Hindus, perfection in Islam, purity in Christianity, and experience, wisdom, and power in various ancient and more contemporary cultures.

Whatever the symbolism and reason for wearing them, today they are the emblem of natural beauty.

Gold plating is a process steeped in history. This gilding technique has been used worldwide since antiquity. Once a sign of wealth and power, it now conveys elegance.

Today, in lithotherapy, mother-of-pearl provides appeasement by warding off fears and negative thoughts. It helps develop concentration, inspiration, self-confidence, and self-control.
It is associated with the solar plexus and frontal chakras.

Lithotherapy is a pseudoscientific practice of unconventional medicine based on the belief in a power that certain stones and mother-of-pearl might possess, which, through their vibrations and energies, could help improve psychological and physical well-being or even cure illnesses. However, there is no scientific evidence for these benefits. The practice of lithotherapy and the use of stones and mother-of-pearl should therefore not replace medical advice.

In lithotherapy, mother-of-pearl purifies and recharges its energies naturally when in contact with earth, water, or the light of the moon or sun.
When removed from their environment, they lose their positive energies and must be purified and recharged.

Thus, you can purify them by rinsing them or submerging them for a few minutes in clear or demineralized water, by placing them in a Tibetan bowl that you will make sing and vibrate, or by burning a stick of sage or incense and exposing them to the smoke.

To recharge them, expose them to moonlight all night, preferably during a full moon. You can also expose them to the sun, but avoid prolonged exposure (less than an hour) as the sun's rays can eventually dull some stones and mother-of-pearl. Therefore, prefer sunrise or sunset when the radiation is gentle.
You can also bury them during a full moon, leaving them underground for an entire lunar cycle or for several months, or arrange them for several hours or days on a cluster of Quartz.

      Choosing your size

Before ordering your earrings (studs, posts, hoops, dangles...), check the size that suits you.

The size depends on the morphology of your ears, the position of your piercings, and the outfit you wish to wear.

An earring should not be too tight to avoid injury, discomfort, and lack of elegance. It should be able to move slightly.
It is therefore advisable to measure well-fitting earrings that you wear regularly to help you choose the size of new ones you wish to order.

      Use and care tips

To protect the jewel from premature aging and preserve its shine, MOONSTRA advises you to avoid:

      • exposing it to fresh, salt, or chlorinated water. Remove the jewel before showering or swimming.
      • exposing it to sand and salt. Remove the jewel before going to the beach.
      • exposing it directly to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other cosmetic products. Wait for the products to be absorbed by the skin before putting on the jewel.
      • exposing it to oxidizing products. Remove the jewel before doing housework or DIY.
      • exposing it to heavy perspiration. Remove the jewel before any intense physical activity.
      • keeping it on for sleeping and manual activities.

To clean and polish the jewel, MOONSTRA advises you to gently rub it with a soft-bristled brush moistened with water and a mild shampoo or Marseille soap, then rinse it with clear water and finally dry it with a soft cloth.
